December 2015 Meeting

At the final meeting for 2015, member Richard brought a sanding solution for on the lathe. Primarily targeted toward sanding bowls, Richard took the sanding pads and made his own handles, complete with epoxied in rare earth magnets to hold the sanding pads in place. Each handle has a position pointing straight out, as well as one on a 45 degree angle to get into the hard to reach places. He also showed us an economical and easy method to make our own ferrules for turning tool holders out of brass stock for bar footrests, as well as handles for DIY carbide insert turning tools made from common low carbon mild steel. Thank you for bringing these items to show and give us all a terrific talk on these builds and economical means of building our own tools! Wonderful work Richard!
